Kick Off Fall Fun at the 28th Annual Children’s Day Festival

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (Oct. 12, 2015) – Celebrate the arrival of fall and create magical family memories at the 28th Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Children’s Day Festival presented by Cinebarre at the Park West Recreation Complex on Sunday, Oct. 18, from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission and all activities are free! Families will enjoy live entertainment, giant inflatables, pony and carnival rides, games with lots of prizes, face painting, a petting zoo, and so much more!

Free parking is available next to the complex at Cario, Charles Pinckney and Laurel Hill schools, as well as the office complex at Satlerbeck St. and Professional Lane. A sidewalk provides easy walking access from the schools, and shuttle buses will run throughout the event from all parking areas. The only public parking available at the recreation complex is for handicapped passes.

This year’s theme is ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ and there will be amazing performances by local and professional artists, dance and gymnastics academies, karate schools and cheerleading squads throughout the event.

Entertainment highlights will include unicyclist and juggler Mark Lippard, King of Kazoo Rick Hubbard, former Ringling Bros. clown Sam Drummond, a magic show by Cupcake the Clown and roaming balloon artists and mascots.

Mount Pleasant Waterworks will set up its popular annual obstacle course, the Mount Pleasant Fire Department will have fire trucks and a smokehouse on display and the Mount Pleasant Police Department will offer crime prevention and safety items.

“We simply could not offer this unique free event to our community without our generous sponsors,” said Harvey. “Numerous children, parents, volunteers and vendors are to be commended as well because their efforts are essential to the success of Children’s Day year after year.”

East Cooper Medical Center is back for its eleventh year as the Stage Sponsor. Publix Super Markets is presenting the popular Kiddie Korral, and media sponsors include News 2, Y102.5 FM, and the Charleston Regional Business Journal.

Concessions will be available for purchase benefiting participating East Cooper schools, including Cario Middle, Charles Pinckney Elementary, Christ Our King/Stella Maris, Laurel Hill Primary, Laing Middle, University School of the Lowcountry and Wando High School.
