Oyster Education Class

Monday, June 17, 6pm – 7:30pm | NICO, $35

Join French Master Chef Nico Romo for a dive into the history of the oyster. The class includes an overview of farming techniques and lessons on how to shuck your own as Nico shares his team’s experience traveling the east coast to study oysters and build the restaurant’s current oyster program. House shucker Bella who won the Lowcountry oyster shucking competition will help teach guests the best shucking techniques. Guests will enjoy 12 different oysters from Maine to South Carolina as well as a welcome champagne toast and a glass of Oysterman wine.

Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is where our community meets to share in a vibrant array of locally grown and SC Certified produce. Stroll through the market to find a bounty of just-picked vegetables, fruits, and fragrant flowers along with local seafood, fresh-cooked meals, baked and canned goods, and locally produced snacks.

Also available each week for your assistance are the Clemson Extension Master gardeners, seasoned volunteers who can help solve most pesky gardening problems.

Beach Drop for Sea Turtles

We’re raising funds for the Sea Turtle Program in Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge! Come out on an evening Beach Drop to the south end of Bulls Island to learn about sea turtles and the work that is being done.

Cape Romain NWR is the hotspot for loggerheads north of Florida, and we’re on track to have over 2,000 nests on the refuge beaches! At about 125 eggs/nest, that’s about 250,000 eggs! A QUARTER OF A MILLION. Real conservation is happening here….and most of it is being done by selfless volunteers working 7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day.
