USS Yorktown (CV-10)
Built in an amazing 16 ½ months at Newport News, Virginia, YORKTOWN was commissioned on April 15, 1943. World War II’s famous “Fighting Lady” would participate significantly in the Pacific offensive that began in late 1943 and ended with the defeat of Japan in 1945. In 1975, this historic ship was to sent Charleston to become the centerpiece of Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum.

The Medal of Honor Museum pays special tribute to American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, ranging from the very first Medal of Honor recipients during the Civil War all the way to the War On Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is also home to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Society members share the distinct honor of wearing our nation’s highest award for military valor. The Medal of Honor Museum is located on aboard the historic aircraft carrier USS Yorktown.

Vietnam experience exhibit
Become part of the crew, as Patriots Point brings the history of the Vietnam War to life in this fully immersive 2 ½ acre exhibit that brings Marine officers to life through holograms in an exciting 3-D production. Set in a “Brown Water Navy” support base and a U.S. Marine Corps artillery fire base during the Tet Offensive and the Battle of Khe Sanh in 1968. The Vietnam Experience Exhibit also serves as a place for the two million Vietnam veterans in the United States to reflect and reconnect with their experiences during their years of service.

USS Laffey (DD-724)
Infamously known as “The Ship That Would Not Die”, the USS Laffey is a Destroyer museum ship at the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. The USS Laffey survived D-Day in the European theater and kamikaze attacks in the Pacific theater of World War II. Experience the “Mount 53” immersive exhibit that simulates the historic kamikaze attack. The Combat Information Center shows off radar animations, holograms, and mock radio transmissions that would have taken place during the Cold War to defend against submarines. Visit the USS Laffey to be immersed in the historic significance of the most decorated World War II-era Destroyer still in existence.
