COOPER RIVER BRIDGE
THE LANDMARK OF THE LOWCOUNTRY
The Cooper River Bridge, officially named the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, connects historic downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant over the wide Cooper River. The bridge is the third longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere. Featuring a pedestrian path spanning the full length of the bridge, some of the best views in the entire Lowcountry are here!
BY THE NUMBERS
The Cooper River Bridge showcases 2 diamond towers, each 575 feet high. From end to end, the total structure is 2.5 miles long with a main deck suspended nearly 20 stories above the river.
Wonders’ WAY
Accessed from Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park, Wonders’ Way is a pedestrian path with a bike lane traversing one end of the bridge to the other. The path is a popular place for sightseers and exercisers.
VIEWS FOR DAYS
The summit of the Cooper River Bridge, jokingly called the “mount” of Mount Pleasant, offers absolutely stunning views of the coast. Two outlooks, one on the Mount Pleasant side and another on the Charleston side give a panoramic perspective of the Charleston Harbor.
