Who’s ready to do some oyster shucking? How does over 50,000 pounds of oysters sound? The Lowcountry Oyster Festival is the world’s largest oyster festival! Please join on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Boone Hall Plantation for the 41st annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival. Highlights include live music on the main stage, raw oyster eating and shucking contests, wine, a selection of domestic and imported beers, specialty cocktails, a Children’s Area (“Pluff-a-Palooza”), and a Food Court showcasing a variety of local favorite restaurants to satisfy everyone’s taste.

The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department will host the 5th Annual Sweetgrass Half Marathon at 7:30 am Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025. The race begins and ends at the Park West Recreational Complex in Mount Pleasant.

Runners start at the Mount Pleasant Recreation Complex and run through the picturesque Carolina Park neighborhood. This is a flat and fast course. Runners enjoy marsh views along Darrell Creek on the way to completing the Half Marathon. View the Sweetgrass Half Marathon course on MapMyRun. The annual “Running of the Weenies” will take place at 11:00 AM at the Park West Recreation Complex.

Charleston Wine + Food’s beloved event, Island Time, is making an appearance once again on the Festival schedule. Anchored in Caribbean cuisine and featuring the sips and sounds from the Islands, Island Time embodies and honors the influences of the Caribbean on the Lowcountry. And these influences are best seen in our foodways, which mirror those of the African diaspora and its influence on local ingredients. The results are, simply, delicious. This Caribbean-rooted event will feature local spirits, island-inspired cocktails, and top-notch food featuring bold, fresh, and flavorful profiles from a crew of chefs with deep Caribbean roots. Join us for an energetic day filled with unforgettable flavor.

Step inside James Beard award-nominated Chef Kevin Johnson’s neighborhood joint, Lola Rose, where he and a special guest have a “Big Day” planned to save Paradise with an over the top lunch rooted in Italian ingredients and techniques. For fans of the culinary cult classic film, Big Night, you know you are in for a treat. While they won’t follow Chef Primo’s menu exactly, they do promise to have timpano and Louis Prima! Wines will be flowing and food will be plentiful at this seriously delicious lunch. Salute!

We are pretty “shellfish” about our seafood down here in the Lowcountry, but we are willing to share at this crustacean celebration. Crack some crabs, peel a few shrimp, or try a crawfish at this shockingly fun shindig. Chefs will be showing off their best seafood dishes and ice cold suds and bubs will be flowing with the Lowcountry waterways as the backdrop. What could be better?

This annual festival at the Mount Pleasant Towne Centre brings families and cultural enthusiasts together with budding and professional artists for an event that showcases a diverse array of local and regional artistic talent. Local music, dance, and visual arts studios offer stunning performances by some of the area’s most talented individuals and groups. Creative aspirations are ignited in children who are given opportunities to explore many art forms and create their own masterpieces.

The Mount Pleasant Artists Guild presents a juried art show. All activities and performances are free of charge. The event attracts residents and visitors of all ages, from young parents and children to seniors.

Mark your calendars for the opening of the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market on April 1 at 3:30 p.m. at Moultrie Middle School.
The weekly market, founded in 1998, features vendors selling local farm-fresh produce, meats, sauces, baked goods and other specialty foods, as well as prepared food vendors for those looking for a unique meal.
This highly anticipated market opening is also a celebration of the hard work and dedication of each farmer and the harvest they provide for locals, visitors and restaurants alike.
Admission is free and there is plenty of parking is available.
