Fans of the Outer Banks Netflix Series can visit these filming locations in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina!
Many of the most recognizable boating scenes, restaurants, neighborhood streets, and outdoor locations were filmed in Mount Pleasant, just across the Cooper River from downtown Charleston.
Shem Creek
Shem Creek is one of the most recognizable Outer Banks filming locations in Mount Pleasant. Its winding waterways, shrimp boats, docks and surrounding marshes appear throughout the series as part of fictional Kildare Island. Many boating scenes involving John B, Sarah, JJ, Kiara, Pope and Cleo were filmed along the creek. The waterways help establish the Pogues’ coastal lifestyle, where boats become transportation, escape vehicles and essential tools during their treasure hunts.

The Wreck Of The Richard & Charlene Restaurant
The Wreck Of The Richard & Charlene is one of the easiest Outer Banks filming locations for fans to recognize because the series kept the restaurant’s real name. The location represents one of Kiara’s central conflicts. Her parents want her to embrace a stable and comfortable future, but Kiara feels most loyal to her Pogue friends.
In real life, “The Wreck” is a casual waterfront seafood restaurant known for its laid-back atmosphere. Operating hours can vary, so visitors should check the restaurant’s current schedule before arriving.
Geechie Seafood
Geechie Seafood portrays Heyward’s Seafood, the family seafood business owned by Pope Heyward’s father.
Geechie Seafood remains a working commercial seafood dock at Shem Creek. Visitors should remain within publicly accessible areas and follow posted instructions. If you would like to purchase fresh-caught raw seafood from local fishermen and women, this is a great spot!
The Old Village
The Netflix production team transformed portions of The Old Village neighborhood into downtown Kildare with fictional storefronts, signage, vehicles, and storm debris.
Visitors can walk along public sidewalks and explore the shops and cafes around Pitt Street in The Old Village. However, the Old Village is also an active residential neighborhood. Fans should avoid photographing private homes at close range, entering private property, or blocking residential driveways.
Pitt Street Pharmacy
Pitt Street Pharmacy is one of the oldest Old Village businesses that appears as Kildare’s local drugstore. The pharmacy plays a significant role in Season 4 when Sarah Cameron enters the store to take a pregnancy test. After discovering that she is pregnant, Sarah confides in Kiara before sharing the news with John B. This location is also where JJ’s iconic crashout scene was filmed, where he destroyed all of the windows.
Pitt Street Pharmacy is known locally for its old-fashioned soda fountain. Visitors can stop for lunch, a milkshake, or a cold drink while exploring The Old Village.
Pitt Street Bridge
The bridge is associated with JJ during a period when he is struggling with his feelings for Kiara, his fear of abandonment, and his belief that he is incapable of having a stable future. The long, exposed path and surrounding water create a fitting setting for JJ’s solitary and emotionally charged dirt bike ride.
Fans can visit Pitt Street Bridge to walk toward the end of the bridge for wide views of the marsh, Charleston Harbor and the surrounding Lowcountry landscape.
Observation Tower At Palmetto Islands County Park
The observation tower at Palmetto Islands County Park portrays the Hawk’s Nest, where John B, Sarah and Topper get into a fight resulting in Topper pushing John B over the edge of the tower.
In real life, visitors can explore the park’s wooded trails, marsh boardwalks, picnic areas and outdoor recreation spaces. The observation tower offers a quieter and much safer opportunity to enjoy the Lowcountry landscape.
Cooper River Bridge / Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge
The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, commonly known as the Cooper River Bridge, appears throughout Outer Banks in driving scenes, boating sequences and establishing shots as a gateway to Kildare.
In reality, the Cooper River Bridge does act as a gateway between Mount Pleasant and downtown Charleston. Visitors can drive across the bridge or explore Wonder’s Way, the dedicated pedestrian and bicycle path. The Mount Pleasant entrance is near Patriots Point and provides elevated views of Charleston Harbor, the Lowcountry skyline, and surrounding waterways.
You may not find the Royal Merchant’s gold, the Cross of Santo Domingo, or Blackbeard’s lost treasure, but Mount Pleasant offers plenty of ways to experience the coastal scenery and adventurous spirit that made Outer Banks a worldwide hit.
